Stoke Abbott Spring

Copyright 1983.
A six week very early 'dots' of ink only pen and ink drawing working by naked eye only, of course.
Developing the technique over previous years and so on, this was the first drawing that I thought was 'good enough' to subsequently produce a print of - followed by half a dozen or so after this one to start, modestly, the Gallery in Bridport, West Dorset, England in 1984.

Measurements of original and print:
9.5cms. x 5cms.. Price of Artist's signed and mounted print each :£22.50p. inclusive surprisingly.

Description of composition:
This romantic, peaceful spring is situated on the outskirts of beautiful Stoke Abbott village, near Beaminster, West Dorset, England.

The lion's headstone facing over the old spring was itself added in 1953 to mark Queen Elizabeth II 's Coronation and is twice inscribed ' E.R.'

A brass drinking cup hangs by a chain yet, rather incongruously, a wooden sign warns 'polluted water'.................a mystical picture with a strong Romanesque, romantic quality.
