Description of composition:  A very precious, small,  circular drawing of the ruins of the legendary castle, perched precariously on a one hundred foot basalt cliff near Bushmills,Co.Antrim, Ireland. Little is known of the site until the beginning of the sixteenth century when the castle was in in the possession of the McQuillan clan who were ousted from it in about 1550 by the redoubtable Scot, Sorley Boy McDonnell. Banshees have been heard over the years.
The spectacular ruin was passed to a Government body for protection as an ancient monument by the 7th Earl of Antrim (McDonnell) in 1928 after long years of neglect. A magnificent, enigmatic silhouette to a lost age......
